On 12th September 2019, Sahibganj multi-modal terminal will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India. This terminal is one of the three multi-modal terminals proposed for the Jal Marg Vikas Project or National Waterway-1. While the terminal is being celebrated for being completed in record time, many of the environmental and social issues associated with the terminal remain to be addressed.
