South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers and People (SANDRP)
SANDRP is an informal network of organisations and individuals working on issues related with water sector. SANDRP’s areas of interest include all issues related with water sector, with special focus on issues associated with large dams, mostly in India but including South Asia regional issues.
The Friends of River Narmada is an international coalition of organisations and individuals (mostly of Indian descent). The coalition is a solidarity network for the Narmada Bachao Andolan (Save the Narmada Movement) and other similar grassroots struggles in India.
Prayas (Initiatives in Health, Energy, Learning and Parenthood) is a non-governmental, non-profit, public charitable trust registered in India. Members of Prayas are professionals working to protect and promote public interest in general and interests of disadvantaged sections of society in particular. The four independent groups of Prayas are working on the following substantive themes:
Energy Group, Health Group, Resources and Livelihoods Group and Learning and Parenthood Group.
International Rivers’ mission is to protect rivers and defend the rights of communities that depend on them, oppose destructive dams and the development model they advance, and encourage better ways of meeting people’s needs for water, energy and protection from damaging floods.
International Environmental Law Research Centre
The International Environmental Law Research Centre (IELRC) is an independent, non-profit research organisation established in 1995. It is an Association under Articles 60ff of the Swiss Civil Code. It has offices in the International Environment House in Geneva (Switzerland) and Nairobi (Kenya). IELRC provides a unique forum for collaborative research between researchers in the North and South. IELRC’s offices in Geneva and Nairobi give researchers access to primary international materials for research.
The Bank Information Center (BIC) partners with civil society in developing and transition countries to influence the World Bank and other international financial institutions (IFIs) to promote social and economic justice and ecological sustainability. BIC is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization that advocates for the protection of rights, participation, transparency, and public accountability in the governance and operations of the World Bank, regional development banks, and IMF.
